Young Graduates HonoredGo Back
Rochelle Hass, parent coordinator at Washington Elementary in St. Gabriel, California got in touch with me in the spring of 2013 as she came across our website and wanted to plan a project with the 5th graders who would be graduating Spring 2014.
What a lovely Mural they created. Each student shared their thoughts about Washington Elementary with drawings and words on a piece of paper that was submitted to us to transfer on to a tile. A volunteer at the school mounted the tiles onto a board and framed it and now the tiles hang in the hallway. What a touching gift for the school to enjoy from the latest class of graduates.
Rochelle shared the following with me:
“Parents and fifth graders loved seeing the artwork permanently on display. Parents were impressed both by the quality of the tiles themselves and by how well the artwork transferred. Lower grade families are insistent that we continue the project so that their children have the opportunity to make a tile. Hopefully this translates to greater participation next year. Thank you very much for your patience and effort in making this project possible, and we look forward to working with you again next year. “
Thank you Rochelle – it was such a pleasure working with you as well.
