Garden of Harmony Tile Wall – Service Learning and Fundraising With Art

CLICK HERE TO VIEW FULL SCREEN

The Garden of Harmony Art Tile Wall was conceived as a service learning and fundraising project to raise funds to purchase books and create art to beautify the Anatta Library at the Peace Grove Nunnery girls school in Lumbini, Nepal, a school where girls, who would otherwise be unable to obtain an education, are thriving and becoming self-assured, educated leaders in their community.

We collaborated with five elementary and high schools, and other groups in the greater New York Metropolitan Area who enthusiastically embraced the project. We then went to Nepal for eight days of service work to mount the wall and participate in the dedication ceremony. The results were fantastic!

The children at the participating schools had a wonderful experience creating art with a service goal and connecting with the Nepali children. A great sense of community developed as the children from both countries shared their culture and common values through web video
